About this event

Are you interested in learning more about collaborative research done with and for the community? Are you currently engaged in community-university research or community engagement? Would you like to explore the field more fully?

Join us as we learn from and with international community engagement experts Dr. Emma McKenna (Queen’s University Belfast) and Dr. Henk Mulder (University of Groningen). This workshop will be tailored towards those currently engaged in, or interested in engaging in, community-university research and community engagement, including staff, faculty, students, community members, and research practitioners.

It will aim to enable and inspire participants by building relationships and fostering an international knowledge exchange, tackling questions such as:

  • How can we effectively document the impact(s) of community-engaged research?
  • How can we be responsible, resilient, and flexible in times of institutional and/or political change?
  • How can we be responsive to community needs?
  • How can we use community-engaged work to create policy changes and/or culture shifts?
  • How can we include students in the research process?
  • How can we use institutional structures to manage community-university research?
  • How can we remain independent and objective in community-university research?

There will also be opportunities for participants to bring their own questions related to community-university research and community engagement to discuss with the group.

Light refreshments and lunch will be provided. Spaces are limited; please register today!
